From late October through March, this beach becomes a surfer’s haven with action filled “Big Waves”!!! Relax on the lanai and enjoy the panoramic ocean view- - it is like being on the prow of a ship!!!

Hale Kimo caters to families, family reunions and weddings with its spacious 2700 sq. ft. per floor, including wraparound lanais, air-conditioned bedrooms and fully appointed kitchens with large work islands. Hale Kimo is the perfect place to leave it all behind!

Vacations & Family Reunions

Hale Kimo is a beautiful beachfront site for a Hawaiian holiday like none other. It is a spacious, two story complex, fully furnished- -very homey. The layout of each floor is identical, with three air conditioned bedrooms, two baths, and a complete kitchen. The facility also includes: lighted arbor with natural stone tile, tiki torches, gas BBQs, hammock, secured entries from the road and beach for privacy, and more than 100 feet of beautiful ocean frontage.

Business Meetings & Seminars: Hale Kimo is perfect for small seminars, meetings, training sessions, etc. A relaxed, spacious, and homey atmosphere lends itself to a productive effort. A corporate executive stated that their planning sessions proved to be very results oriented. He particularly enjoyed his casual attire - his favorite shorts and bare feet throughout the sessions - which proved to be very relaxing. Sure beats a hotel environment!

Family Reunions: Over the years, many family members scattered within the continental US and in foreign countries have used Hale Kimo as a family reunion site to reunite and enjoy one another. We have several families that come annually or bi-annually to enjoy the family togetherness that Hale Kimo likes to provide. Come and enjoy a special family reunion on the famous North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. We now permit families to have 20 guests at Hale Kimo and if they make arrangements for a family member's beachfront home next door, they can have 12 more family members or up to 32, all close together.

Christian Retreats & Meetings: Hale Kimo has hosted 2 night Christian weekend retreats for many years. Its location on the North Shore is conducive to study, worship, fellowship, and lots of fun and relaxation. The retreat must embrace at least 25 men or women to qualify. The family member's home next door provides a great conference center and permits up to 40 men or women to attend the retreats.

We offer Hale Kimo for rent by the Home or if you like you may reserve the entire complex.

Helpful Hints

Drinking water is completely filtered - tap water, ice and even showers and baths. Buying expensive bottled water isn't necessary. Our filtered drinking water is pure as well as soft. Chlorinated showers are a thing of the past! Enjoy our water!!!

Telephones: All calls on Oahu are free. We don't have a long distance carrier on Hale Kimo's phones so be sure to have a calling card or call collect to place your long distance calls.

Shopping: If you're Costco members, there is a big new Costco on the way to Hale Kimo from the airport. You take Exit 2 off the H2 freeway on the way to Mililani, turn left, go over the freeway to 1st signal light, turn left and you will see it. It's a great place to stock up if you're a big group. There is also a Sam's Club (before Costco) in the Pearl City area, call me for directions if you're a member there. There's also a beautiful grocery store, Foodland, near Hale Kimo that has everything. Milk and other staples are less at Costco and Sam's Club but not as convenient.

Sundries: If you want a morning paper, take a short walk on the bike path, go to your left as you leave the house, a large city block and you'll see the Sunset Beach store across Kam Hwy or Ted's Bakery - famous island wide for its pies: Macadamia Nut, Chocolate Haupia, Coconut Cream, and others! You must taste their fabulous, yummy sweet rolls of all kinds! They are a must for your first breakfast.

Dining: You'll find many nice restaurants within close proximity to Hale Kimo. Turtle Bay Hotel (turn left) only five minutes from us and others in Haleiwa (turn right) about 15 minutes driving time. For fine dining, there are Jameson's and Haleiwa Joes. There are several family dining spots, Pizza Bobs (they have other things too), Kuaaina for great hamburgers, Rosies for Mexican cuisine and, of course, famous Matsumoto's for shave ice (try them with ice cream in a cone), just to name a few.

Clothing Attire

There is a local saying to our guests, "Lucky you come Hawaii!"

Much of this stems from Hawaii's temperature, of air and ocean water, soft caressing breezes, natural beauty of the islands, flowers, foliage, trees but also our very casual and relaxing way of life and dress. We really don't have a dress code except for some private schools, businesses, and military that require uniforms.

You may come to Hawaii and wear shorts, aloha shirts, casual short sleeve sweaters, sandals or slippers the entire stay if you wish. Local slang says, "letta go your blouse' relax and enjoy!"

However, most of our guests like to dress up a few times for fine dining, a special 'luau', or the theater. Many fine dining restaurants and hotels require closed shoes, long pants, usually dress slacks for the men and a few require a sport jacket. It is wise to call ahead and check. Ladies in short or longer dresses with a beautiful floral 'lei' over their shoulders are always acceptable.

In the winter months we get local showers, and as hard as it is to believe, with strong trade winds, it can and does get chilly. So you may want to bring a sweater or jacket for warmth. In the early morning in January or February the temperature at Hale Kimo can go as low as the mid to high 50's. Please don't laugh, it may be very chilly on the beach at 6:00 in the morning at Hale Kimo! Yes we have blankets available at both homes!

Sports & Activities

Sunset Beach - Colorful events include the World Cup and the Triple Crown surfing competitions held every winter. This beach is the longest white-sand beach on Oahu, with "mighty" big breakers.
