Property Description
The cottage was originally my father's home. I have owned the property for the past ten years. The cottage was completely renovated five years ago. New electric, plumbing;, roof, windows flooring, insulation, kitchen cabinets, appliances and furnishings were installed. The "BOAT HOUSE", so aptly named as it is located on the beautiful Black River, a short distance to the beaches and downtown area.
The front of the cottage has a small deck (8x10) with built-in bench. Facing the river are two large decks with built in benches. There are three long benches surrounding a fire pit.
The property also offers a 30 foot boat slip. Also, if anyone wishes to bring a canoe, the Black River is also a wonderful river to canoe or kayak in as there is little current in either direction.
The Kal-Haven Bike trail, which travels from South Haven to Kalamazoo through picturesque fruit farms and small towns, is located about one block from the cottage. Lake Michigan beaches are close by with great sandy swim areas, sunning, kiting, volleyball, play equipment, food concessions, and picnic areas. These can be enjoyed as well as the Lighthouse on the piers and the beautiful Lake Michigan sunsets.
South Haven and surrounding areas, offer many recreational activities, such as golf courses, eateries, wineries, artists galleries, shops and exciting festivals throughout the summer. South Haven has on of the finest maritime museums in Michigan. A tall ship is docked here which is available for rides on the lake. There are many fun summer festivals offering dragon boat races at Harborfest in June; outstanding 4th of July fireworks on Lake Michigan, classic car show also in July, Thursday evening band concerts at the city marina along the river, Blueberry festival, arts and crafts events and antique tractor show to name a few. This is a fruit belt offering blueberries, strawberries, rsspberries, cherries, peaches, pears, plums, apples and a variety of vegetables; u-pick available! Many antique shops along the way. Fishing for perch, salmon and other fresh water fish is greatly enjoyed here.
